Although Patricia's schedule is always busy, she contributes generously to a variety of important non-profit charities, both large and small.

The BC Lions Society for Children With Disabilities and Easter Seal Services Fundraisers

"Beyond The Horizon"

The Bald Eagle is the third in the trilogy of the sea, land, and sky, themed painted sculptures.

In 2009, Vancouver Island artist Patricia Banks was sponsored to paint this 7.5 foot high eagle by the Nanaimo Hub City Lions, Nanaimo Lions, Gabriola Lions, Ladysmith Lions, Protection Island Lions, and the Nanaimo Harbour Lites Lioness Clubs.

The Orca, Spirit Bear, and Eagle projects raise funds for the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities, Easter Seal Camps and Houses, and the Canucks for Kids Fund.

“Soaring beyond the horizon, the bald eagle symbolizes spirit, strength, and determination. These are only a few of the wonderful attributes embodied by the children this charity embraces. "Beyond The Horizon" captures the beauty and freedom of the eagle in flight, the watchful sentinel observing its environment, and the committed family group caring for its young."

"THE SPIRIT OF FRIENDSHIP"

In 2007 the BC Lions Society for Children With Disabilities commissioned a special Spirit Bear for the Children. "The Spirit of Friendship" is now  permanently installed at the Easter Seals Camp, at Shawnigan Lake, on Vancouver Island, BC.

The Spirit of Friendship is a friendly bear, designed to inspire joy and excitement in the children as they have fun and make new friends.

"SPIRIT RISING"

In 2006 artist Patricia Banks was sponsored by the Hub City Lions Club, Nanaimo Lions Club, Gabriola Lions Club, and Nanaimo Lioness Club, to paint a seven foot tall, 170 pound, fibreglass Spirit Bear for the "Spirit Bears In The City" Project.

The "Spirit Bear" or Kermode Bear, is a white coloured sub-species of the American Black Bear. Their scientific name is Urses americanus kermodei. Their home is on the northwest coast of British Columbia. In February 2006, the Province of BC named the Spirit Bear the official BC Animal and has recently set aside a generous land preserve to protect the habitat of these bears.
