Estrella Wash

Jumping jollas, prickly pear, and saguaro sentinels swell with pride after the desert rains pour over rubble rock trails. The hard baked earth, too dry to absorb the downpour, sends flash floods careening through paths of least resistance, further eroding the usually dry “wash” areas. Prickles and spikes, no friend to be found, except the full moon illuminating a cool drink for some. This painting was inspired by numerous hikes in Estrella Mountain Regional Park which encompasses 20,000 acres southwest of Phoenix Arizona, USA
